Sister taxon: Herpetogaster haiyanensis
Type specimen: ROM 58051. Its type locality is Walcott Quarry, Fossil Ridge, Greater Phyllopod Bed, which is in a Delamaran deep-water shale in the Burgess Shale Formation of Canada.

Total: 3 collections each including a single occurrence
