Sister taxon: Pinichthys shirvanensis
Type specimen: PIN 2180 - 253, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Apsheron Peninsula, Baku Region, which is in a Miocene marine horizon in Azerbaijan.
Ecology:
Distribution: found only at Apsheron Peninsula, Baku Region
