Sister taxon: Protobuthus elegans
Type specimen: MSNM BES SC 1973, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Sasso Caldo site, Besano, Monte San Giorgio, which is in an Illyrian/Fassanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal dolomite in the Besano Formation of Italy.
Ecology:
Distribution: found only at Sasso Caldo site, Besano, Monte San Giorgio
