Sister taxon: Xenorophus sloanii
Type specimen: CCNHM 8720, a partial skeleton (partial skeleton including a nearly complete but crushed skull, right mandible, nearly complete upper and lower dentition, five cervical vertebrae, eight or nin). Its type locality is North Charleston, Chandler Bridge Fm., Bed 2, which is in a Chattian marine sandstone in the Chandler Bridge Formation of South Carolina.
