Sister taxa: Zonotrichia albicollis, Zonotrichia atricapilla, Zonotrichia capensis, Zonotrichia leucophrys
Type specimen: Its type locality is 900 m SW of Punta Hermengo (lower), which is in an Ensenadan loess siltstone in the Miramar Formation of Argentina
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
Distribution: found only at 900 m SW of Punta Hermengo (lower)
