Type specimen: SMNS 91318, a partial skeleton (mostly disarticulated but associated elements of a skeleton including a right premaxilla, right maxilla, frontals, right postorbital, right quadratojugal, right). Its type locality is Kössig quarry, Rotfelden, which is in an Aegean/Bithynian terrestrial sandstone in the Röt Formation of Germany.
