Type specimens:

  • Camptognathosaurus walbeckensis: MLU.GeoS.4045, a mandible. Its type locality is Walbeck (Weferlingen), which is in a Selandian fissure fill sandstone/mudstone in Germany.
  • Camptognathosaurus parisiensis: RIV PP 413, a mandible (Nearly complete right dentary). Its type locality is Petit Pâtis, Rivecourt, which is in a Paleocene fluvial-lacustrine lignite in France.

Ecology: fossorial insectivore

Distribution:

• Paleocene of France (3 collections), Germany (1)

Total: 4 collections each including a single occurrence
