Sister taxa: Prionailurus bengalensis, Prionailurus javanensis, Prionailurus planiceps, Prionailurus rubiginosus, Prionailurus viverrinus

Type specimen: IVPP V33075, a mandible (partial mandible with p4 and m1). Its type locality is Hualongdong Caves, which is in a Pleistocene cave limestone in China.

Ecology: scansorial carnivore

Distribution: found only at Hualongdong Caves
