Sister taxa: Chilomycterus acanthodes, Chilomycterus schoepfi

Type specimen: IGM 13934, a partial skull (pre maxilla). Its type locality is Cenote X-Nabuy, which is in a Miocene/Pliocene marine limestone in the Carrillo Puerto Formation of Mexico.

Ecology: nektonic carnivore

Distribution: found only at Cenote X-Nabuy
