Type specimen: USNM 16176, a mandible (fragment of right ramus of mandible with P4). Its type locality is Dragon Canyon, which is in a Torrejonian terrestrial horizon in the North Horn Formation of Utah.
Ecology: arboreal herbivore
Distribution: there are no occurrences of Ptilodus ferronensis in the database
