Type specimen: DMNH EPV.141854, a partial skeleton (disarticulated, but associated, skeleton that includes a nearly complete carapace and plastron and a complete pelvis). Its type locality is DMNH EPV.141854/DMNH Loc.19258, which is in a Puercan pond mudstone in the Denver Formation of Colorado.
