Sister taxa: Coryphaenoides amager, Coryphaenoides biobtusus, Coryphaenoides contortus, Coryphaenoides guentheri, Coryphaenoides maximus, Coryphaenoides rupestris
Type specimen: UWBMVP 128914, a partial skeleton (one otolith, 248 body scales, three vertebrae, some teeth and other bones). Its type locality is Sekiu River, which is in a Rupelian basinal (siliceous) mudstone in the Makah Formation of Washington.
Ecology: nektonic carnivore
Distribution: found only at Sekiu River
