Sister taxa: Protoscutella conradi, Protoscutella mississippiensis, Protoscutella pentagonium, Protoscutella plana

Type specimen: UF 213520, a test. Its type locality is Southern Aggregates Jamestown Quarry, which is in a Lutetian offshore shelf limestone in the Santee Limestone Formation of South Carolina.

Ecology: slow-moving semi-infaunal detritivore

Distribution: found only at Southern Aggregates Jamestown Quarry
