Sister taxon: Sinosauropteryx prima

Type specimen: IVPP V 12415, a skeleton (an almost complete skeleton, missing the feet and the posterior caudal vertebrae; most likely represents a juvenile according to the neural arch separated from ). Its type locality is Dawangzhangzi, which is in a Barremian lacustrine - large shale in the Yixian Formation of China.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore

Distribution: found only at Dawangzhangzi
