Sister taxa: Hesperolagomys fluviatilis, Hesperolagomys galbreathi

Type specimen: UNSM 123305, a maxilla (dentary with i-m2 and alveolus for m3). Its type locality is Garner Bridge South, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Valentine Formation of Nebraska.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution:

• Miocene of United States (3: Nebraska collections)

Total: 3 collections each including a single occurrence
