Type specimen: CIT 500, a partial skull (badly crushed skull with basicranial region and bullae missing, but with complete denti- tion. Left and right fragmentary rami; dentition complete in right ramu). Its type locality is Coso Mountains (CIT 131), which is in a Blancan terrestrial horizon in California.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

• Blancan of United States (12: California, Idaho collections)
• Pliocene of United States (9: Idaho)
