Type specimen: LACM 19684, a tooth (isolated rm1). Its type locality is Cudahy, which is in an Irvingtonian terrestrial ash in the Crooked Creek Formation of Kansas.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution: there are no occurrences of Synaptomys (Metaxyomys) anzaensis in the database
