Sister taxon: Uintasorex parvulus
Type specimen: UCMP 104179, a tooth (isolated [upper] M2). Its type locality is Solstice Slope, which is in an Uintan terrestrial horizon in the Friars Formation of California.
Ecology: arboreal omnivore
Distribution:
• Eocene of United States (32: California collections)
Total: 32 collections each including a single occurrence
