Sister taxa: Washakius insignis, Washakius izetti

Type specimen: Calif. Inst. Tech. Vert. Pale. Coll. No. 2233, a maxilla (right maxillary fragment with M1 and M2). Its type locality is San Diego Mission (CIT 249-S), which is in an Uintan terrestrial horizon in the Friars Formation of California.
