Sister taxon: Parascaniornis stensioei

Type specimen: YPM 1465, a limb element (distal end of right tarsometatarsus). Its type locality is Baptornis advenus type locality, which is in a Coniacian offshore chalk in the Niobrara Formation of Kansas.
