Type specimen: LACM 1376, a partial skeleton (incomplete skeleton lacking hind quarters). Its type locality is Coursen garden, which is in a Hemingfordian/Barstovian carbonate limestone/chert in the Monterey Formation of California.

Distribution: found only at Coursen garden
