Belongs to Pongamia according to H. D. MacGinitie 1941
Sister taxa: Pongamia glabra, Pongamia kailakholaensis, Pongamia kathgodamensis, Pongamia siwalika
Type specimen: U.C. Mus. Pal. Paleobot. Ser. cotypes nos. 2254, 2255, 2256. Its type locality is UCMP loc. P3318, Chalk Bluff, which is in an Eocene floodplain claystone in California.
Ecology: "photoautotroph"
