Type specimens:
- Herrerasaurus ischigualastensis: PVL 2566, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Valle Pintado, which is in a Carnian terrestrial horizon in the Ischigualasto Formation of Argentina.
- Frenguellisaurus ischigualastensis: PVSJ 53. Its type locality is left bank, Río La Chilca, Ischigualasto, which is in a Carnian terrestrial horizon in the Ischigualasto Formation of Argentina.
- Ischisaurus cattoi: MACN 18.060, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is 3.7 km east-southeast of Aguada de la Peña (MACN), which is in a Carnian terrestrial horizon in the Ischigualasto Formation of Argentina.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
