Sister taxa: Eocaiman itaboraiensis, Eocaiman palaeocenicus, Notocaiman stromeri

Type specimen: AMNH FARB 3158, a partial skull (most of the front parts of skull and jaws). Its type locality is Eocaiman cavernensis holotype locality (Notostylops Beds), which is in a Bartonian terrestrial horizon in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.

Ecology: carnivore

Distribution: found only at Eocaiman cavernensis holotype locality (Notostylops Beds)
