Sister taxon: Micromysticetus tobieni

Type specimen: ChM PV4844, a skull. Its type locality is Chandler Bridge Creek (Ashley Fm.), which is in a Rupelian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal horizon in the Ashley Formation of South Carolina.

Ecology: aquatic carnivore-suspension feeder

Distribution:

• Oligocene of United States (2: South Carolina collections)

Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
