Sister taxon: Eomysticetus whitmorei

Type specimen: ChM PV4845, a partial skull. Its type locality is Dorchester Creek, which is in a Chattian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal sandstone in the Chandler Bridge Formation of South Carolina.

Ecology: aquatic carnivore-suspension feeder

Distribution: found only at Dorchester Creek
