Type specimens:
- Sinosaurus triassicus: IVPP V.34, a partial skull. Its type locality is Huangchiatien, Lufeng, which is in a Sinemurian terrestrial horizon in the Lufeng Formation of China.
- Dilophosaurus sinensis: KMV 8701, a skeleton. Its type locality is Qinglongshan, Muchulang village, which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian terrestrial horizon in the Lufeng Formation of China.
