Sister taxa: Lufengosaurus changduensis, Lufengosaurus huenei

Type specimen: IVPP V.82, a set of postcrania. Its type locality is Tachung, Lufeng, which is in a Hettangian terrestrial mudstone in the Lufeng Formation of China.
