Sister taxon: Macrodelphinus valenciennesii

Type specimen: YPM 13402, a partial skeleton (partial skull and partial skeleton missing periotics). Its type locality is Woody, southwest, which is in a Chattian marine sandstone in the Jewett Formation of California.

Ecology: aquatic carnivore

Distribution: found only at Woody, southwest
