Sister taxa: Pekinosaurus olseni, Thecodontosaurus gibbidens

Type specimen: NMMNH P4957, a tooth. Its type locality is NMMNH Loc. 001, Revuelto Creek, which is in a Norian fine channel fill sandstone in the Bull Canyon Formation of New Mexico.
