Type specimens:

  • Psittacosaurus sinensis: IVPP V.738, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is northwest of Tushan, which is in an Aptian terrestrial claystone in the Doushan Formation of China.
  • Psittacosaurus youngi: BHNM BPV.149, a skeleton. Its type locality is Zaohang, south side of Peilungho, which is in an Aptian/Albian terrestrial horizon in the Doushan Formation of China.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution:

• Cretaceous of China (3 collections)

Total: 3 collections each including a single occurrence
