Type specimens:
- Psittacosaurus sinensis: IVPP V.738, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is northwest of Tushan, which is in an Aptian terrestrial claystone in the Doushan Formation of China.
- Psittacosaurus youngi: BHNM BPV.149, a skeleton. Its type locality is Zaohang, south side of Peilungho, which is in an Aptian/Albian terrestrial horizon in the Doushan Formation of China.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
