Sister taxa: Confuciusornis chuongzhous, Confuciusornis sanctus
Type specimen: IVPP V11553, a skeleton (nearly complete skeleton with feathers). Its type locality is Libalanggou, Zhangjiyin, which is in a Barremian/Aptian lacustrine siltstone/mudstone in the Yixian Formation of China.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
Distribution: found only at Libalanggou, Zhangjiyin
