Type specimens:

  • Texatrygon avonicola: UCMP 53917, a tooth (complete rostral tooth). Its type locality is Lull 2 Quarry (UCMP V-5620), which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial sandstone in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.
  • Ischyrhiza monasterica: AMNH 12185, a tooth. Its type locality is South Sulphur River, Commerce, which is in a Maastrichtian marine claystone/sandstone in the Kemp Clay Formation of Texas.
