Type specimens:

  • Megaloolithus jabalpurensis: VPL/KH 250, an egg. Its type locality is Bara Simla, Jabalpur [Main Limestone], which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial framestone in the Lameta Formation of India.
  • Megaloolithus matleyi: 123-125/CR/P/89. Its type locality is Pavna nest site, which is in a Maastrichtian coarse channel fill sandstone/claystone in the Lameta Formation of India.
  • Megaloolithus patagonicus: MUCPv-234, 245, 246, 247, an egg. Its type locality is Gran Neuquén, Neuquén city, which is in a Santonian/Campanian wet floodplain siltstone/sandstone in Argentina.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
