Sister taxa: Fraipontia alatum, Fraipontia nodulosa

Type specimen: USNM 95192a, a shell. Its type locality is Salt Spring Hollow, about two miles north of the hollow south of Kritesville, which is in a Givetian carbonate limestone in the Little Cedar Formation of Illinois.

Ecology: stationary semi-infaunal suspension feeder

Distribution: found only at Salt Spring Hollow, about two miles north of the hollow south of Kritesville
