Sister taxon: Palaeostylops macrodon
Type specimen: AMNH 20414, a mandible. Its type locality is Gashato (AMNH), which is in a Paleocene terrestrial horizon in the Khashat Formation of Mongolia.
Ecology: scansorial herbivore
Distribution:
• Paleocene of China (4 collections), Mongolia (2)
Total: 6 collections each including a single occurrence
