Type specimen: MVP 05.22.04, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Therioherpeton site, Faixa Nova, which is in a Carnian/Norian terrestrial mudstone in the Santa Maria Formation of Brazil.

Distribution: found only at Therioherpeton site, Faixa Nova
