Type specimens:
- Glyptops ornatus: YPM 1784, a skull (a laterally compressed skull without lower jaws). Its type locality is Quarry 9, Como Bluff (YPM), which is in a Kimmeridgian/Tithonian fluvial-lacustrine mudstone/sandstone in the Morrison Formation of Wyoming.
- Glyptops utahensis: CM 3412, a shell (a complete shell). Its type locality is Dinosaur National Monument Quarry (CM), which is in a Tithonian coarse channel fill sandstone in the Morrison Formation of Utah.
Ecology: facultatively mobile amphibious
Distribution:
• Jurassic of United States (4: Utah, Wyoming collections)
Total: 4 collections each including a single occurrence
