Taxonomy
Cythereis israelskyi was named by Howe and Law (1936) [as Cythereis ? israelskyi authors: Howe and Pyeatt in Howe and Chambers]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Creole bluff on the red river at Montgomery, which is in an Eocene marginal marine horizon in Louisiana.

It was recombined as Pyricythereis israelskyi by Howe and Law (1936).
