Pleurotoma inermis was named by Reeve (1843). It is extant.

It was recombined as Drillia inermis by Arnold (1903); it was replaced with Turris (Surcula) ophioderma by Dall (1908); it was recombined as Ophiodermella inermis by Hendy (2021).
