Ostrea multicostata was named by Deshayes (1832) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Crassostrea multicostata by Glibert and Van de Poel (1965); it was recombined as Ostrea (Turkostrea) multicostata by Strougo (1976), Glibert (1985); it was recombined as Cubitostrea multicostata by Jeffery and Tracey (1997); it was recombined as Turkostrea multicostata by Moneer et al. (2024).
