Modiola ameghinoi was named by Ihering (1907) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; Patagonia, Argentina.]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Modiolus ameghinoi by Stilwell and Zinsmeister (1992) and Frassinetti and Covacevich (1999).
