Taxonomy
Acesta bibbyi was named by Stilwell and Zinsmeister (1992) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; Seymour Island, Antarctica.]. Its type specimen is USNM 441609, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is IPS 5, Seymour Island, which is in a Lutetian coastal siliciclastic in the La Meseta Formation of Antarctica.
