Taxonomy
Ormoceras ferecentricum was named by Foerste and Teichert (1930). Its type specimen is USNM 82214 and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is High Bridge, Tyrone Fm., which is in a Rocklandian shallow subtidal limestone in the Tyrone Limestone Formation of Kentucky.
