Diagnosis

|---|---|---|
| S. G. Lucas and R. M. Sullivan 2006 | A baenid distinguished from other baenids primarily by the ornamentation of the carapace, which consists of rounded, node-like elevations of irregular shape and uneven sizes; along the central part of the carapace these elevations form antero-posteriorly elongate, longitudinal ridges separated by grooves. Further distinguished from other baenids by the suture pattern of the carapace and plastron, the posterior end of the carapace, which has a large pygal scute and prominent scalloping, and by the rectangular anterior and posterior plastral lobes.
