Lucina lacteus was named by Deshayes (1850) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene-Recent; Mediterranean.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Loripes (Loripes) lacteus by Freneix et al. (1988), Schneider et al. (2005).
