Taxonomy
Acanthocrania intermedia was named by Cooper and Grant (1974). Its type specimen is USNM 151440c, a valve, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM706c, Hess Canyon, Glass Mountains, which is in a Roadian marine limestone in the Word Formation of Texas.
