Taxonomy
Polycystocoelia huajiaopingensis was named by Zhang (1983). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Huangnitang Reef, Lichuan, which is in a Changhsingian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Changxing Formation of China.
