Taxonomy
Ancyloceras approximans was named by Conrad (1855) [DISTRIBUTION: Campanian; Western Interior; Atlantic Coastal Plain.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Nostoceras approximans by Kennedy et al. (2000), Kennedy et al. (2000); it was recombined as Nostoceras (Nostoceras) approximans by Kennedy and Cobban (1993), Küchler and Odin (2001).
