Taxonomy
Modiolus koneckii was named by Dickins (1963) [University of Western Australia (Reg. No. 32639)]. Its type specimen is UWA 45388, a valve (Right valve), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Becketts Gully, Irwin River Area, which is in a Sakmarian shallow subtidal limestone in the Fossil Cliff Formation of Australia.
